2017 GMC Acadia: completely revamped

Completely redesigned this year, the 2017 GMC Acadia is all-new and features a host of new safety technologies as well as tons of connectivity options that make GMC’s seven-passenger SUV the perfect vehicle for your family. Smaller in stature but offering more space, the new Acadia is also lighter which means improved fuel economy.

Smaller size and improved comfort in the 2017 GMC Acadia

The all-new 2017 GMC Acadia has a smaller footprint than before. Indeed, its wheelbase has shrunk by 2,857 mm while overall length and width decrease by 184 mm and 87 mm respectively. That translates into a weight savings for 318 kilograms which in turn leads to improved fuel economy and better handling and stability on the road. This is particularly true in the Acadia Denali which features an adaptive suspension setup which reads the road and adjusts to it in order to provide optimal performance.

Two engines find their way under the hood of the new Acadia. The first is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 193 horsepower and 188 lb-ft of torque while the second is a 3.6-liter V6 which features 310 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque. Despite the major differences in power, both engines are fuel-efficient with an average fuel economy rating of 9.2 liters per 100 kilometers for the base engine on the highway with front-wheel drive, and 9.5 liters per 100 kilometers for the V6 with all-wheel drive, again on the highway. Towing capacity is set at 1,493 kilos.

While the four-cylinder engine can be paired with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, the V6 comes standard with all-wheel drive.

Safety and connectivity at the heart of the new 2017 GMC Acadia

The new Acadia features plenty of connectivity and safety characteristics starting with the Driver Alert Pack 2 which includes adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, cross-traffic alert that can recognize pedestrians, low-speed autonomous braking, following distance indicator (which warns you if you are too close to the vehicle ahead), forward collision alert and automatic high-beam control.

Inside, there is 4G LTE Wi-Fi along with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay features which ensure that you are always connected. To learn more about the all-new 2017 GMC Acadia, contact us today at Bruce GM Middleton.
